i like to try anything i can get my hands on
indeed, my whole process is a collage of materials,
tools, and inspiration
my dual experience as a fine and graphic artist influences my use of
type / text
my use of the third dimension in the layers pieces
and also my use of negative space in my photographs
drawing is my foundation
lately, i have been making more traditional
collages using scraps of this and that, images from old books, newspapers etc, as well as print-outs of images that i have discovered on the internet and potentially altered with anything from various graphics applications to letting them be run over in the parking garage of the everett station lofts
i also work with plexiglass, other plastics,
glass, or anything translucent to make the
layers pieces which
add literal and conceptual dimension
to the viewing experience
inspirations for my photographs are color, texture, and spontaneous weirdness
i tend not to alter my photos, i prefer to trust my original instinct and welcome happy accidents
i think of them as paintings and i also use them in page layouts
these drawings come from portfolio & from sketchbook
drawing is my foundation. i express my worldview in terms of drawing
